Chasing Hoops was birthed from pain, pressure, and purpose. Like many people, our founder, Giovanni Washington, grew up with big dreams. But over time, through trauma, distractions, and the grind of life, those dreams began to fade. He found himself settling into a routine, disconnected from his true identity. Working 9-to-5 jobs, chasing money, caught in temporary pleasures, he had lost sight of who he was created to be.

But in the middle of that darkness, God stepped in with light.

Basketball had always been an outlet for him, more than just a game. One day while shooting in his backyard, God planted a seed: “Chasing Hoops.” It was more than a name; it was a divine assignment. That moment sparked something deep within. The dreamer began to awaken. Social media handles were claimed. Logos were designed. A vision was born.

Still, the journey wasn’t immediate. The idea sat for a while, until God applied pressure. After quitting multiple unfulfilling jobs and hitting a breaking point, he knew it was time to go all in. Looking back, it’s clear: God used the pressure to launch the purpose.

Chasing Hoops began as a clothing brand but quickly became something more, a vehicle of ministry. God expanded the vision beyond shirts and shorts to souls and salvation. This platform now stands to inspire athletes, creatives, and dreamers to step out of darkness and into purpose.

Through content and social media, we spread our message and connect with players worldwide who share our passion for faith and basketball. Our vision is to build a community united by a common purpose: to live out the love of God on and off the court.
